President Joe Biden drops out of the 2024 presidential race

The rumors were ongoing with this. Some earlier reports had Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 race on Sunday (yesterday). However, it seemed as if the President was going to stay in this thing. 

And then I saw this on Instagram yesterday.

New requirements to monetize your YouTube channel

Probably since about 2018 I wanted to figure out how to make money with YouTube. I see this post from YouTube's blog with regards to having lower monetization requirements.

That being said you still need at least 1,000 subs with 4,000 public watch hours during the course of a year to be able to make money off of ads. Now the requirements are 500 subscribers with 3,000 public watch hours in order to access some other means to make money.

Now an aspiring YouTuber can get super chats - which I see commonly given out when a YouTuber goes live. You can get a "tip" what they might call a super thanks. You can make money by offering memberships which might indicate a loyal following in that case. And then an easier ability to sell and promote your own products through YouTube.

Hmmm, the idea of selling Shedd Badger City t-shirts would be such a great idea now that I think about it. For all the alumni of Bennett-Shedd School and of course that would just be a start.

So anyway I've often written about doing YouTube videos for that channel. And in that vein I would like to inform as much as I would like to entertain. And one potential idea is to find places to visit and share them with you all.

With that said, my only issue right now is finding a niche that attracts an audience. This way I could reach at least 500 subs and then reach 1,000 subs and hopefully get that play button at 100K subs.

At least I got to 100 subs on my recently renamed channel Levois Meets World. If I share any travel content I plan to do most of that there. Still trying to figure out a plan for the other channel you see here which is Sixth Ward Chicago which I do hope to get to 500 subs also.

One of more recent videos from last year got over 1000 views which was shots inside a now demolished shopping mall Evergreen Plaza on 95th & Western on my old iPhone 4S. Not my best video, but you know I finally shared something that I had footage of years ago. It also got a lot of engagement. [VIDEO]

Finally, it seems another thing one needs to do if they're serious about this making money on YouTube is that they have to figure out the algorithm. That is using the algorithm to put your content to those who are looking for videos in a particular niche. The above video I saw it gained the traction it did in a short time and for my videos it did pretty good. Though most look to go viral and get millions of views.

So again I need work on being able to make money on YouTube and of course there are other sites where it's possible to make some money. I'd say looking for a new stream of income using some form of social media, continue to look for a site that works for you.

"Black men deserve to grow old"

 I wanted to share this meme recently and ask how many of you are contributing to this for the men in your lives. Whether we're talking significant others, fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, nephews, uncles, brothers, cousins, or even friends.

This meme emerged in the outrage over the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, TENN. Well I overstated that, he was badly beaten by police officers and no one is characterizing this as a case of excessive force. The officers involved have been fired and charged with second degree murder. Sadly three days after being stopped & brutally beaten by Memphis Police in January Mr. Nichols died.

Nichols from some of what I read had crohn's disease and wasn't in robust health. He was over six feet tall but has been described as underweight compared to some of the officers involved with this incident. He leaves behind a son, who is now without a father. He was known as a free spirit who was into landscapes, paid no attention to stereotypes as a Black male, and he liked to skateboard. This is the kind of man you want to see grow old. It was sad to see him beaten and pepper sprayed by these officers call out for his mother.

To further interpret this meme, I had focused on say if the women who shared this meme have Black boyfriends or husbands. How would they contribute to the Black man in their lives to growing old? Is this something they believe beyond the current public outrages?

I suppose these meme, has a much deeper meaning to me. This shouldn't come out for the latest major story, especially when it comes to a case of police brutality. This should be an everyday thing.

Yes, Black men deserve to grow old. They deserve to be happy, treated with respect, and be surrounded by people who love them. That's my answer.

Two Cents: How social media keeps you poor?

 

[VIDEO] I found this at random recently Two Cents is a PBS web series you can follow on YouTube. Basically they look at issues of personal finance and would very much like to share other editions with you and hopefully you will learn something new as far as what to do with your money.

To start social media has gained prominence since the 2000s. I can never imagine world without Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, or even Instagram. You would think the user who signs up for those sites would be the customer but in reality the customers are the advertisers. 

With YouTube some popular YouTubers who are over say half-million subscribers often make money by taking on a sponsorship. For example it seems that I can't get away from a YouTuber pitched Raid Shadow Legends on the regular. Also in general if you make at least a thousand subscribers this is when YouTubers will get to make money and it will not be via sponsorships it will be the ads that run at the start, end, or even during their videos. Often a YouTuber doesn't have the ability to control when these ads run although they can control usage of these ads. If they opt out then they have a far more difficult time monetizing their YouTube channels.

Anyway aside from that sidetrack, what Phillip & Julia Olsen they will talk about how social media causes users to spend more money. You might follow someone who seems to have this amazing life. They dress well, eat at a posh restaurant, go on amazing vacations, etc. What if you see them and then you try to be like them. You try to up your fashion, find a posh restaurant, or even go on an amazing vacation.

Perhaps there's a feedback loop going on here and what happens is that you begin to spend money as a result. Very interesting video.

CapFax: CTU slammed for “clearly racist” tweet

I found out about this tweet from the Chicago Teacher's Union at Capitol Fax today. He's noted what if Chicago's Fraternal Order of Police had tweeted this out. And I'm guessing the police would be universally condemned for this.
