Started a new project

 I started another blog Ninth Ward Chicago I imagine it will have a shelf life on some level, however, its a way to keep track of some local politics better than I had over at The Sixth Ward which I feel needs a new direction at this point.

I've decided not to allow comments there unfortunately, however, if you have any feedback feel free to share here.

At one point this blog was intended to become a Ninth Ward blog, however, I've since changed my mind on this.

Want to see a "videoblog" tomorrow?

Well I want to update you. May have a possible video blog to share, will work on it today and then hopefully post it to The Sixth Ward YouTube channel tomorrow.

It basically documents my commute on the Red Line today. Unfortunately it's a common occurence - it's happened often enough on my commute - to hear about either police activity or some unauthorized person on the right-of-way. So what I documented is what you can expect when this happens.

So what's in a name part 2

Notice the header up top. In the past this is what you would've seen at the top. Except I made some changes to reflect the current purpose of this blog.

Sometimes, you narrow the focus of a project so narrowly that it only opens it up to expansion to other subjects. I could just focus on education and Shedd School, but then how much news could I uncover especially if I lose focus on education.

So now this isn't a blog about Shedd School, but a "ninth ward" blog. It seems appropriate since we're in election season and I've been posting videos, mailers, and even candidate forums. There is more to discuss.

While I've toyed with just calling this place Shedd School or Public School, I've finally made the decision. The official name of this blog hasn't changed John G. Shedd Public School and for the moment the subheader is now A "ninth ward" blog.

Should this stick or should it always be tweaked?

CPS schools back in session on Wednesday

Well, it appears the two day extended vacation is over for CPS students. And perhaps the weather is starting to get better!

Message again via the CPS FB page where if you connect with them there will be updates on what's going on at CPS.

Another holiday is upon us!

While all CPS students are currently on spring break we run right into a holiday weekend Easter Weekend! If spring break hadn't coincided with this more or less religious holiday then CPS students would likely be off today.

When I first starting going to high school (GO FALCONS!) CPS attempted to eliminate Good Friday as an off day but went back to business as usual the next year. The teachers weren't playing that! In fact my World Geography teacher already said he's taking that day off!

All the same, I hope everyone who reads this blog is having a happy and safe Good Friday and Easter. Hopefully you're taking this time to eat some tradition Easter treats in addition to any other activities you may enjoy!

The school year has been back in session since at least two days after New Years. After just about posting furiously in November it's time to get back to this place. Stay tuned!
