[VIDEO] Some of these names I'm familiar with since history was my favorite subject in school. I know about William Jennings Bryan from history class, he gave a great impassioned speech when he was running for president in 1896. However he fit one criteria, he was never able to secure the presidency. He did have a long political career after that initial presidential run.
A number of these candidates had something on their platform, character, and were never able to secure the presidency to be included in Mr. Beat's top 10. Some of these candidates were populists, progressives, abolitionists, protectionists, problem solvers, and especially above partisanship.
Would America be different if many of those candidates had been successful in their presidential races? Who knows but a few of these top 10 would have my vote.
And it's amazing to see Ross Perot on this list he was a protectionist. He was a wealthy man who wanted to change the economic direction of this nation to insure any trade deals was a two way street.
