This is a great geographical lesson to follow especially if young people need a distraction from what ever they do with their remote learning since school's out for the rest of the year. Also who knew, Texas students have to learn about the history of the "Lone Star State". Would it be interesting if more states had their students study their own state's history?
Unfortunately Mr. Beat didn't necesarily answer one question I could come up with. Why does the California state flag refer to the Golden State (he explained why California is referred to as golden) as the California Republic although it was never an independent nation. Although Texas actually was for ten years in the 19th century the state of Texas was an independent republic after fighting a violent revolution against Mexican control until 1845 when the United States annexed them.
All the same I do hope you learn something new here.
