Retrotech: DynaTAC

[VIDEO] Well the ancestor of today's cell phone was developed over 50 years ago at Motorola. This phone you might have seen in Wall Street - at least for those of you that remember that movie. Gordon Gecko as a major wall street player is talking on it doing his wheeling and deal. And in the sequel released in 2010 it was an item handed to Gecko as he leaves prison.

More recently well more than 20 years ago it was the phone used as Zack Morris' preferred communication device on the iconic teenage sitcom Saved by the Bell. Of course by that point the phone was likely obsolete and far more compact phones came to market.

If it wasn't for this DynaTAC perhaps we wouldn't have this period dominated by these devices known as smartphones. It's interesting how Marquez Brownlee traces the impact that device had and how it evolved.
