Marquez Brownlee: Retro Tech

[VIDEO] Marquez Brownlee does a retro tech episode on a retro all-in-one camcorder. A JVC GR-C1 which is said to be the first camcorder of its kind. It's amazing how far video recording has come.

I still have a mini-DV camcorder which made roughly the same noise - mostly mechanical - as the JVC did when Marquez put in a tape. The camcorder seems like a very large and unwieldily piece of tech. Unless you have what they used to call a pro-sumer camcorder such a device this large is not something you really see anymore.

The mini-DV camera I have at home is relatively small and even then its consider obsolete as the rage these days are hard drive camcorders. If you want to record video it can be stored digitally not need for a medium whether tapes or DVDs. Now it's just a matter of where you choose to store video that you want to edit into more of a feature presentation.
