No more penny...

The time has come. The penny has been retired and production has ceased at the US Mint. The penny costs a lot to produce in recent years thanks to inflation so that helped with the decision of the Trump administration to end the production of the penny.

Here's an IG post on it.

Imagine that this discussion regarding the value of the penny has gone back all the way to 2008. The late Morley Safer or the iconic TV Newsmagazine 60 Minutes talked about it. And less than 20 years later the elimation of the penny has come to pass. [VIDEO]

Just think earlier this year a recommendation from Elon Musk's team at the Dept. of Gov't Efficiency - we haven't heard about them in a while - was to recommend ceasing production of the penny. Now that time has come to pass.

The plan for my pennies, I may keep some around the house because I imagine they're still legal tender. However, for all others I plan to deposit them into the bank. They're still money and the more you collect they add up very quickly.

They're worth the effort if you see them on the ground in the real world. If not, no big deal I'll happily grab them if I see them.

Also I wonder if retailers would actually round prices to the nearest nickel.
