Sorry I have been slow about this, however, there was bound to be legal challenges to the Biden admin's proposed student loan forgiveness program.
In a victory for borrowers, the Biden administration has defeated multiple legal challenges to its new student loan forgiveness initiative. But the fight is far from over.
Biden’s plan would cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt for up to 40 million borrowers. To be eligible, borrowers must have earned less than $125,000 (or less than $250,000 if they are married) in either 2020 or 2021. Only government-held federal student loans qualify for the relief.
Also while there have been success with several cases litigation continues:
The challengers have filed appeals at both the 7th Circuit and 8th Circuit courts of appeals, and they continue to request injunctions that could block the program while the legal fight plays out. Additional court hearings on other suits are scheduled for next week. If just one court issues a ruling to block the program, it could upend the Biden administration’s plans.
Meanwhile if you believe you qualify let me be a public service and share this link as it's been shared by quite a few Democrat politics including the Mayor of Chicago so that you can apply for this relief
